Grand Ayatullah Sayid Muhammad Husseini Shahroudi, a prominent and
distinguished scholar in the Qom Seminary, was born in Najaf al-Ashraf in 1925.
He was the son of Grand Ayatullah Haaj Sayid Mahmoud Shahroudi.
The late Sheikh Shams Al-Zanjaani and Sheikh Ali Al-Shahrbabaki taught
him the preliminary lessons of the seminary studies.
Grand Ayatullah Shahroudi learned Al-Rasa'il and Al-Makasib from his
father, and the book Kifaayat (Usool) from Grand Ayatullah Agha Mirza Hashim
Aamuli and Ayatullah Sheikh Abdul Hussein Rashti. He started attending advance
level seminary studies in 1941.
He has been a lecturer of Jurisprudence in the Islamic Seminary of Qom,
Iran, since 1963.
