DAMASCUS, Syria: The Syedah Ruqayyah S.A. Mosque and Mausoleum in Damascus, Syria, which houses the tomb of Hazrat Ruqayyah S.A. herself, the beloved daughter of Hazrat Imam Hussain A.S. who was the grandson of The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad S.A.W.W, is a place of devout worship and prayer for Shia' Muslims.
Muslims daily head into the Iranian style Syedah Ruqayyah S.A. Mosque for five prayers of the day and to visit the grave of Hazrat Ruqayyah S.A.
In the holy month of Ramadan, the Syedah Ruqayyah S.A. Mosque is well attended; Muslims after offering the five time prayers each day in the mosque recite holy Qur’an and remain busy in other religious activities.
The mosque is considered the most ostentatious prayer hall in Syria, with the ceiling made of a mosaic of mirrors.
